SMS currently service three market sectors – rail, highways and utilities.
Our services include blasting, water jetting and other surface preparations, followed by the application of specialist coatings and materials as required by the client.
We are able to work trackside due to our RISQS accreditation, on Highways England National Highway Sector Schemes due to our NHSS 19A accreditation and on Utilities due to our Achilles UVDB accreditation.
Management systems are accredited to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and NHSS 19A and provide full policies and procedures to manage all our operations and activities.
Our business philosophy is built around three solid pillars, Safety, Quality and Protection of the Environment.
Safety – a key driver for SMS and at the heart of everything we do. From health surveillance for all our employees to method statements, risk assessments, COSHH assessments, briefings, PPE, safety conversations and toolbox talks, we factor in all relevant health and safety protective measures so that our operatives (and those working with us) can be assured we are doing our best to protect them.
Quality – right first time, every time, delivers excellence. Our management systems demand that we deliver high performance that is reliable and solid. Couple this with our own industry qualified inspectors (levels 1 and 2), we ensure that we deliver to our clients’ specifications. We also have two industry qualified trainers, ensuring that every new member of the team will deliver in the same reliable way.
Protection of the Environment – our corporate responsibility policy and environmental policy both uphold and support our core belief that companies like ours must protect the environment in every stage of our work. We build relationships with our clients and suppliers, ensuring our supply chain management is controlled. Our activities need to continue to recognise and address that while we add value to everything we do, we never lose sight of the goal.
