Heading our Company is Matthew Clapp.  Our key management team and executive committee are Glenn Weller and Jane Radford, hugely supported by Rebecca Seaton and Julie Curtis.

Our fantastic team of fully qualified Inspectors, Supervisors and Operatives are renowned for their excellent skills and work ethics – they have a wealth of experience and knowledge to provide our clients with the best possible service. We are justifiably extremely proud of them and their continuing efforts and loyalty to the Company.

 

Glenn Weller is our General manager and has recently been appointed a Director of the Company.  He also continues to hold the key role of Contract manager.  He has been with the Company since 1987, joining the senior management team in 1999. He has extensive experience in protective treatments, particularly to railway bridges, viaducts, parapets and tunnels and has many years experience of managing services to the utility and rail industries and in particular to Network Rail infrastructure.  Glenn is highly experienced in his field and has a wealth of knowledge on our preparation techniques and anti-corrosion protective treatments.  Over the years he has completed a wealth of necessary and relevant training and has achieved the competencies and expertise enabling him to manage our contract works.  He is responsible for liaising with both clients and suppliers with the aim of achieving the best possible outcome for the client.

Jane Radford is our HSQE systems manager, quality manager, environmental manager, internal auditor and IOSH manager and has been with the Company since 2006, joining the senior management team in 2011.  She has extensive experience in corporate administration and has undertaken a variety of training over the years including becoming a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Secretaries, Site Management Safety Training scheme, Internal QMS Auditor, IOSH Managing Safety, IT2 presentations, IEMA Associate member, Practitioner Member of IEMA and Train the painter Trainer.  Jane is responsible for writing and maintaining our policies, procedures and management systems (quality, environmental, health and safety and FORS) and ensuring compliance with the relevant industry and ISO standards, together with statutory and regulatory compliance.  She is also responsible for the preparation of COSHH and risk assessments.

Rebecca Seaton is our HSQE assistant and joined the Company in September 2021.  She is primarily responsible for accounts processing, sales/purchase invoice management, payroll including timesheets, recording working hours/driving time and liaising/assisting our external accountants Thompson Reid.  Rebecca manages our waste management records, tyre records and assists the management team and the board of directors.  She also assists in our accreditations, memberships, HSQE monitoring/measuring, internal audits, monthly management meetings and annual management reviews. Since joining SMS she has become an integral part of the team, demonstrating valuable communication and organisational skills and contributing to our continuing success.

 

Julie Curtis is our Administrator and her role is to support the managers, maintain contract and site folders/files, administer enquiries, purchase orders, site records and manage communication systems.  Julie is responsible for planning our powder coating division work schedules and for the completion of various controlled records under her remit in support of our integrated management system.  She maintains the fleet vehicle records and manages the scheduling of MOT’s and services.  Julie manages PPE/RPE/stationery issues and ensures stock controls are maintained.  She monitors the daily pre-use checks for plant, equipment and vehicles to ensure defects are promptly addressed.  Julie thrives on new challenges and problem-solving tasks.  She handles a pivotal role for SMS and supports our ongoing success.
